This project questions how this globally well-accepted idea of "refugee participation" is locally organized in Switzerland. Whithin this project, my dissertation expecially examine the role of so called RLOs (refugee-led organizations) in implementing this idea. This raises various questions : Who are the people participating and what are they doing ? How is this idea percieved, interpreted and negociated ? How do those various modes of participation impact the consideration of refugee political voice(s) in the decision-making process affecting them ? Whose voices are considered and how ? What process of idealization, instrumentalization and depersonalization are at play ? What does it say about the ideas of "civil society", "democracy" and the categories of "refugee" and "migrants" more generally ?

To apprehend the complex translation of this idea, I am particularly interested in drawing on analytical frameworks from critical migration studies, transnational studies, socio-anthropology of international aid, feminist decolonial litterature and litterature on participation. On an epistemo-methodological level, the project is based on qualitative methods, and for my dissertatinon, I engage in an ethnographic approach, notably (participant) observations within certain organizations.
